The Experience
Your appointment,
unhurried.
A personal appointment built around careful comparison, and colours you can actually live in.
The consultation
Your appointment, step by step
Every appointment is held in person, in London or in Brisbane, just the two of us. The shape of the time is always the same. What we find in it is yours alone.
A warm welcome
You arrive exactly as you are: no makeup, no fake tan, in something comfortable with a low neckline. Bring nothing else but curiosity. Settle in with a tea or a coffee while I talk you through how the analysis works, ask what you are hoping to get from the day, and answer anything on your mind before a single drape is lifted.
If you feel more like yourself with makeup on, do bring it with you. There is time to put it back on before you leave.
Reading your colouring
I look at your natural colouring in controlled light: the undertone of your skin, the depth and clarity of your eyes, the character of your hair, and how much contrast sits between them. These characteristics, hue, value, chroma and contrast, are the compass for everything that follows.
The draping
Now for the part I love most. I hold precision-dyed drapes against you in deliberate pairs: warm against cool, deep against light, bright against muted. You watch in the mirror as the comparisons resolve, the shadows softening under one colour, your eyes gaining definition under another. Colour analysis is all about comparison, and I will never tell you something you cannot see for yourself.
Your season revealed
The draping narrows to a single answer: your home season, and your precise sub-season within the sixteen. I explain what makes the result yours, how your palette relates to its sister seasons, and where it can quietly borrow from its neighbours.
Making it yours
The last part of the appointment turns all of this into a wardrobe: your hero colours, your best neutrals and metals, combinations that work together, and what to reach for instead of the shades that compete with you. Any take-home palette or materials described in your service listing leave with you.
The precise contents, duration and location of your appointment are confirmed when your booking is arranged, and set out in your booking confirmation. Prices and durations for each service are on the services page.
At ease
An experience, not an examination
Being looked at closely can feel a little exposing, and I do understand that better than most, having spent years in front of cameras myself. My appointments are deliberately built to feel like the opposite: kind, patient and entirely without judgement.
Nothing is rushed. Each drape gets the time it needs, I explain what I am seeing as it happens, and every question is welcome, including the ones that begin with ‘this might sound silly, but’. You are not being assessed. You are being shown something rather lovely about yourself.
Most people arrive a little curious and a little nervous, and leave already planning what they are going to wear.
A small assistant
You may also meet Tulsi.
Tulsi is my eighteen-month-old Australian Labradoodle. She is hypoallergenic and does not shed. She loves people, she loves children, she loves other dogs, and she is firmly of the view that every appointment goes better with her in it.
She is only ever in the room if you would like her to be. If you would rather not, simply say so and she will happily wait elsewhere. It changes nothing about your appointment, and you never need to give a reason.
You can tell me either way in advance on the consent form, or just mention it on the day.
Preparing
Before you arrive
A little preparation protects the accuracy of your analysis. I send full guidance with your booking confirmation, and the essentials are these.
Come as you are. Please arrive without makeup and without fake tan. Both can mask your natural undertone, which is the foundation of the whole analysis. If you would rather not spend the day without makeup, bring it with you and put it back on before you leave.
What to wear. Something comfortable with a low neckline. High necks and polo necks sit in the way of the drapes and cast their own colour, so they are worth avoiding.
Hair. If your hair is coloured, that is entirely fine. Simply come as you normally wear it. If you have a significant change planned for the days around your appointment, do mention it in advance.
Tell us what would help. If there are any accessibility requirements, or anything at all that would help you feel comfortable, tell me before the appointment and I will do everything I reasonably can.
Colour analysis is a styling service based on trained observation and professional judgement. It is not medical, dermatological or healthcare advice.
Afterwards
Living in your colours
Your palette is a guide, not a rulebook. I really do not think colour analysis should be about handing you a list of things you suddenly cannot wear. Your result simply shows you where your harmony lives, and how to balance the colours that sit further from it.
You will leave knowing your home season and your sub-season, your hero colours, your most flattering neutrals and metals, and how to put them to work: which coat, which denim, which white, and what to wear instead of black if black is not naturally yours.
Colours can appear different across lighting, fabric, dye batches and screens, so your take-home materials are designed for the real world of shopping, not the ideal conditions of the studio.
